Twinleaf Town and Lake Verity

Chapter 1: your first Pokémon, your first battle with Barry and the Running Shoes.

You wake up upstairs at home in Twinleaf Town, and your rival Barry bursts into your bedroom on his way to the lake. Go downstairs, where Mom is waiting. Barry lives in the house next door.

Head north onto Route 201. Professor Rowan's briefcase is where your journey really starts: you choose your first Pokémon from it, Turtwig, Chimchar or Piplup, and Barry battles you straight away with the one strong against yours.

Turtwig and Piplup both do well against the first Gym's Rock types. Chimchar has a harder start there but is strong against the second Gym's Grass types.

After the battle you are taken home, where Mom gives you the Running Shoes. Then go back to Route 201, where Barry joins you, and walk west through Verity Lakefront to Lake Verity. The scene at the lake plays only on your first visit.

Let this scene play to the end without opening the menu. If the menu is opened during it, the scene does not count as seen, and Rowan's assistant keeps sending you home later on Route 202.

If the scene walks you through the wall of the house, log out straight away without pressing through the messages; you come back inside the house. The scene plays again next time you walk in, and until it completes Rowan's assistant on Route 202 keeps sending you home. Send a bug report from the game's menu if you get stuck.

Sandgem Town is east along Route 201.
