Eterna City
Chapter 8: Cynthia, the flower clock and Gardenia's Forest Badge.
Eterna City is an old town with a statue of a legendary Pokémon in the middle. In town you run
into Barry again, and after the scene at the statue Cynthia gives you
HM01 (Cut).
The Pokémon Center, the Poké Mart, the Gym, the condominiums, the Herb Shop and the houses to the south and east are open. The Team Galactic building, the Cycle Shop and the Underground Man's house are closed, so there is no bicycle yet.
Eterna Gym
The Gym is a garden around a flower clock. Gardenia's three trainers, Caroline, Jenna and Angela, battle you only in that order, and you have to talk to each of them to start. Every win turns the clock one step. The clock hands are not drawn, so go by the order of the trainers, then on to Gardenia.
Gardenia uses Grass types: Turtwig (level 20), Cherrim (level 20) and Roserade (level 22). Fire, Flying and Ice moves work well, so Chimchar has an easy time. Turtwig and Piplup will want help from a Pokémon caught on the way, such as a Flying type.
Beating Gardenia earns the Forest Badge and
TM Grass Knot (TM86).
